– January 29, 2026
Did you set yourself an intention for 2026 to meet more people?
Are you feeling ready to begin the year with more connection, purpose and possibility?
Do you have an idea of something you'd love to do in the company of others? (This could be a hobby, a coffee at your favourite cafe, a clean-up at your favourite beach... anything!)
If you're nodding along to one or all of these, then you're in the right place!
Join us this January for a fun and free online workshop where together we’ll...
🌟 Set some intentions for a more connected 2026
🌟 Explore simple, welcoming ways to bring people together (tried and tested by us over the years!)
🌟Get inspiration for gatherings you could start in your neighbourhood, at your own pace and in your own way
🌟 And, if you're interested, learn more about hosting your gathering with Befriend and our Social Network community!
You are welcome to keep your cameras turned off if you feel more comfortable.
Start the year by growing something meaningful - for yourself and your community!
(And just remember, all friends start off as strangers, so if you're feeling a bit nervous about putting yourself out there, just remind yourself of that... it may help!)
Enjoy the meandering peaceful bushland and flat paths that are in Henley Reserve park and bushland with friendly locals!
Mostly shady and cool, there are two paths to choose: stay on the paved path near the basketball court and playground, ideal for people with walkers, prams, crutches and wheelchairs. Or, extend your walk with a venture into the bushland trail and enjoy the serenity of tree-lined paths. The bush trail is better suited to those who don't rely on wheels to move as in some places it is soft with sand, but mostly it is solid.
The full walk will take less than an hour to do.
Bring your hat, wear sunscreen and carry water. The best parking is on Ringwood Loop. Meet at the basketball court for a quick meet and greet before moving on to the paved walk, followed by the bush walk for those eager to take on a little more of the walk.
Come along for a gentle stroll, enjoy the natural beauty of the reserve and meet others who love to celebrate the beautiful bushland of Kwinana or need a little inspiration to get mobile on an easy walking track.
Your group leader Kate looks forward to seeing you there!

Gentle Somatic Yoga will meet every Saturday morning. Gentle Somatic Yoga® incorporates slow, mindful movements that unwind long held, stress-based patterns and/or injuries. Therapeutic and corrective exercises called Somatic Movement Flows® erase chronic muscle pain and significantly increase flexibility though self-correction. In Gentle Somatic Yoga® we do not intend to stretch muscles in order to achieve results. Instead, we go to the root cause of all muscular pain, which is found in the brain, and reprogram habitual patterns of stress held deep within the body (Soma). Most of the Somatic Movement Flows® are performed on the floor with a yoga mat and a blanket or beach towel which is used as support for your head and as a covering if you feel chilled.

I’m always excited to share what I've learned to help people transform their relationships and communication - and that’s what this class is all about!
I'm also passionate about contributing and having an impact. This class is my latest volunteer project, and I’d love for you to be part of it.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

– February 3, 2026
A warm welcome to those who are interested in connecting with a group of like-hearted individuals to develop a meditative practice in a supportive space. This group is suitable for people over 18 years of age at both beginner and experienced levels of practice. If you are new to meditation, Kelly will offer more guidance as you explore your unique journey.
About the host Kelly loves encouraging people to develop a nurturing relationship with themselves. She is a registered and practising facilitator through Meditation Australia and has a degree in education with a special interest in supporting students at educational risk. She also holds a diploma in both holistic counselling and in coaching, mentoring and interpersonal facilitation.
What to expect Classes are free and hosted at Gumblossom Community Centre in Quinns Rocks every Tuesday evening. Participants are invited into the room at 6:45pm. We spend some time connecting with each other socially before settling in for the guided mindfulness and mediation session. Unfortunately, participants will not be able to enter the room after 7:00pm as the meditation session will be underway. This is a safe, trauma-informed space and participants are respectfully requested to not consume alcohol, drugs, cigarettes or eat foods with strong aromas such as garlic and onion before class. Perfume or aftershave can trigger allergies for participants, so not spraying yourself before class is greatly appreciated. If you have allergies or a strong preference against particular essential oils, please make this known prior to class as an aromatherapy diffuser is used to enhance relaxation. We conclude the evening just before 7:30pm with an internal or verbalised gratitude focus.
Facilities There are ample parking bays in the carpark, and clean bathroom facilities are available inside the venue. Participants are encouraged to use the facilities before entering the meditation room so we don’t disturb the space once we are settled in. You are also welcome to bring your own camping chair if this is more comfortable for you. If you would like to lay down, please feel welcome to bring your yoga mat; however, be mindful that if it is a full class, there won’t be lots of space to do this. The room has adjustable air conditioning and is pleasant during cool and warm evenings. Our body temp. can fluctuate during meditation though, so bringing what you need to make yourself comfortable is encouraged. Phones need to be turned off or on silent mode. If choosing to remove your shoes, please be mindful of class participants and ensure your feet aren’t smelly!

We look forward to meeting you and embarking on a journey of self-care together.

2:00 pm: Befriending Self with Mindful Self-Compassion 6 Week Course
– February 7, 2026
To kick off 2026, we're teaming up with Gosnells Women's Collective to bring you the Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion. So, if you’d like to make friends with yourself, show up for yourself, and put yourself at the top of your To Do List in 2026, this is a great way to discover practices that will help you do just that. On Saturday afternoons over six weeks, join us on this journey where we warmly explore the art, science, and practice of self-compassion. Together, we'll build self-confidence, nurture self-worth, and ease the stress of daily life.
Week 1: Discovering Self-Compassion We’ll explore the circles of self-compassion: self-kindness instead of self-judgment, common humanity over isolation, and open presence versus over-identification.
Week 2: Practising Self-Compassion We'll dive into how self-compassion and self-criticism affect us physically and learn gentle, mindful ways to soothe our nervous systems.
Week 3: Finding Your Compassionate Voice This week, we'll uncover our inner compassionate voices. We'll see how self-criticism can protect yet limit us, and learn to motivate ourselves with kindness.
Week 4: Embracing Our Full Selves We'll gently turn towards all our emotions, even the tough ones. Together, we'll learn to recognise, name, and safely soothe our feelings.
Week 5: Self-Compassion and Burnout We'll explore sustainable self-care to prevent or heal burnout, and introduce a practice called “compassion and equanimity.”
Week 6: Making it Count In our final week, we’ll reflect on and discuss our core values, crafting a personal core values list. We'll set intentions to continue nurturing self-compassion in our lives.
Please make sure to let us know you're coming so we can make sure we have space and resources for you.
This experience will be led by Befriend’s Community Enrichment Facilitator, Karen, who is a qualified teacher with the Centre for Mindful Self-Compassion. This course is based on the Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion created by Dr Kristin Neff and Chris Germer, founders of the Centre for Mindful Self-Compassion in the US.

I’m always excited to share what I've learned to help people transform their relationships and communication - and that’s what this class is all about!
I'm also passionate about contributing and having an impact. This class is my latest volunteer project, and I’d love for you to be part of it.

She also holds a diploma in both holistic counselling and in coaching, mentoring and interpersonal facilitation.

This is a safe, trauma-informed space and participants are respectfully requested to not consume alcohol, drugs, cigarettes or eat foods with strong aromas such as garlic and onion before class. We conclude the evening just before 7:30pm with an internal or verbalised gratitude focus.

Hello there. If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re out here looking for a new and exciting way to spend an evening, and that’s what we’re here to provide. Do you enjoy card games? Do you want to meet more likeminded people? Are you sick of us asking questions? Then let’s talk 😊
First thing is first… our names are Jordan and Ella. We’re here to hopefully bring together a nice little community of people who like having a nice social catch up with people who enjoy the same things, and enjoy having a laugh whilst playing unconventional (but also normal as well) tabletop games. We want to play some fun little card games with likeminded people, have a laugh, and quite possibly even make some new friends along the way.
We have discussed some games that we could play, and a good few of them are a bit unconventional, but absolutely fun. We will still have the normal games like Uno and other classic favourites, but we have other lesser-known games such as Chocobo’s Crystal Hunt, Love Letter (not as romantic as it sounds but you will still fall in love with it), and many others.
There’s a lot that we could say about the operations behind our game night, but we’ll just give a TL;DR version for those of you who are already fed up with the amount of reading you’ve done so far. This is what we have so far:
Time: 6pm-8pm
Day: Every second Wednesday
Location: Ocean Keys Shopping Centre food court

9:00 am: Bennett Springs - Crystals and Coffee Social Chat
– February 12, 2026
Love crystals, and looking for a place to hang out and meet people?
You're very welcome to come along to Bennett Springs Caffissimo for Term 1 of Crystals and Coffee. You don't actually need to love crystals, or coffee, every one is welcome!
Look out for the table with some chonky crystals on it, and just join in the fun!
I can't wait to meet you! I'm your Host, Sarah Lee, and I'll bring down my crystal bibles in case anyone has questions, and maybe a Tarot deck in case someone wants a free reading.
This group makes reusable fabric bags using re-cycled materials providing a sustainable alternative to plastic bags.
No experience necessary. Plenty of things for "non-sewists" to do as well. Coffee etc available for purchase from the cafe. Come along to join in, or just have a chat.
This group will be cancelled on hot days (32'C or more) as the venue is small and the air-con insufficient

Meet your neighbours, create a community. make friends locally. Foster Community Spirit. Disability Friendly. Stones Throw Cafe will be the alternative venue, in case of inclement weather (Storms or extreme temperatures)

2:00 pm: Befriending Self with Mindful Self-Compassion 6 Week Course
– February 14, 2026

6:45 pm: Meditation and Mindfulness - Quinns Rocks (Gumblossom Community Centre)
– February 17, 2026
It is a disability friendly venue with no stairs, but please let Kelly know if you have mobility requirements so she can ensure the class space is set up appropriately for you ahead of time.
What to bring Please bring a water bottle, comfy clothes and a cushion if you find plastic chairs uncomfortable.
Booking The class size is kept to a max. of 15 participants and bookings are essential. Please don't turn up to the venue if you've not reserved your space.
We look forward to meeting you and embarking on a journey of self-care together.

About Your Host
Hey, I’m Demi. I got into sewing about four years ago after my first bub was born-I wanted to make her some cute little outfits. I’m not a pro, but I love trying new patterns and figuring out how things go together. If you don’t have a machine yet, no stress-you can share mine to give sewing a go. I’m happy to get beginners started with easy makes like tote bags, scrunchies, or ties-just bring your fabric (and elastic for scrunchies).
What to Expect
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Bring your machine, set up, and work on your pieces at your own pace. Feel free to ask anyone for help if you get stuck. We start packing up around 8:00 pm and finish by 8:30 pm.
Got questions? Just call or text me (Demi) on 0430 948 861.

2:00 pm: Befriending Self with Mindful Self-Compassion 6 Week Course
– February 21, 2026

Booking The class size is kept to a max. of 15 participants and bookings are essential. Please don't turn up to the venue if you've not reserved your space.
We look forward to meeting you and embarking on a journey of self-care together.

Hello there. If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re out here looking for a new and exciting way to spend an evening, and that’s what we’re here to provide. Do you enjoy card games? Do you want to meet more likeminded people? Are you sick of me asking questions?
If you think there’s anything that we’ve missed, please let us know and we will throw in that extra information. With all of that said, if you have any other questions, queries, suggestions, or just want to discuss things further, don’t even thing about hesitating to get in contact with Ella (0478637425) or Jordan (0407868818) by phone, or even send us a message on Meetup. We will do our absolute best to get back to you. Looking forward to hearing from you all, and looking way more forward to meeting you all in person.
As a side note - please confirm via a direct message if you are coming or not, as we’d love to know who's coming in advance 😊

Meet your neighbours, create a community. make friends locally. Foster Community Spirit. Disability Friendly. Stones Throw Cafe will be the alternative venue, in case of inclement weather (Storms or extreme temperatures)

Come along and enjoy working on your knitting or crochet projects with others. It’s ok if you’re a beginner, bring your equipment and let’s practice together!
We will most likely meet under the shade of the big tree on the farm, follow the path to your left as you walk in the front gate or ask at the Perth City Farm market stall if you're not sure. If it's raining we'll shift to the cafe.
The Markets will be in full swing during our session, so make sure you bring a bag and set some time aside to purchase some local produce.
If the weather is forecast to be very hot we may shift the time to earlier in the morning, so RSVP to ensure you get any messages.

2:00 pm: Befriending Self with Mindful Self-Compassion 6 Week Course
– February 28, 2026
