Options for Organisations

We are available to deliver training sessions, workshops and seminars to individuals, staff and volunteers within organisations.

Befriend regularly engages with organsations and groups to deliver a variety of training options. In the past, we have worked with Brightwater Care Group, UnitingCare West, Sudbury House, and Berrington Subiaco just to name a few.

Our in-house training options are listed below, however we can also work with you to provide customised training in our areas of expertise: social inclusion, connection and technology for connection. Find more information here

Group Training

Groups of individuals can have fun and support each other while learning together. Group training is typically focused on one device (e.g. iPad or computer) and is best suited to a group of individuals who have a similar level of ability.

Training topics include:

Seminars are a great way for a large group of individuals to learn about a particular device or area of digital technology. Seminars are suitable for your organisation's clients, or staff and volunteers. Topics can be chosen from those available in workshops below.

Workshops for Your Organisation's Clients

Workshops for clients are two hours (or less if more appropriate). Available workshops include:

  • Technology 101 - a kick-starter for anyone who is new to technology or feels like they’ve fallen behind; covers choosing devices and internet, deciphering jargon, and basic concepts around devices and the internet

  • Online Safety for You and Your Family - online safety for parents; covers safe practice and principles, useful tools and resources, and modeling safe behaviour for children

  • iPad Crash Course - a thorough, hands-on and fun workshop for those who want to get the most out of their iPad; covers device operation, downloading and using apps, useful settings, and tips & tricks

  • Connecting Online Safely - connect with loved ones or make new connections, safely; covers social networks, emailing, video communication (e.g. Skype), and online safety

Professional Development Workshops for Staff & Volunteers

Professional development workshops are interactive learning experiences for staff and volunteers in organisations and usually delivered in a ‘train the trainer’ format. Available workshops include:

  • Technology 101 - Train the Trainer (for support workers)

  • Using Technology for Enabling Life Skills and Independence - Train the Trainer (for support workers)

  • iPads and Older Adults – Train the Trainer (for support workers)

  • Sparking Connections through Social Support (for support workers)

  • Sparking Inclusive Practice in Teams (for coordinators and managers)
