Host An Event
Make new friends by bringing together people who share your interests
Learn about Hosting
Hosting events with Befriend is a flexible way to meet new friends with similar interests to you. When you are the Host you choose the time, location and type of activity, it’s as simple as that! Catch a movie, meet for coffee, cycle around the river...it’s entirely up to you!
Befriend uses Meetup.com to manage all the events. As a Host you will be able to post events to the Befriend Network at any time. We’ll spread the word that your event is on, giving you a platform to reach more people seeking new connections.
Have a look at the Social Network Calendar HERE to see the kinds of events other Hosts are running.
To get you started as a Host, you're invited to our fun and friendly Host-Your-Own-Event workshops. These free workshops are run in the Perth metro area every month, in different locations. You will learn the basics of Hosting, easy ways to engage with people and plan out sessions that people will love to come back to. If you're worried there might be an awkward conversation while meeting somebody new, we’ve got some tricks for that too!
We want to ensure that things for you are as hassle-free as can be, so the team at Befriend HQ are here to help when you need it in planning, hosting and even debriefing if and when you need it. Our Community Building Team offer free support to all Hosts in-person and via phone and email. We can also connect you with a group of other Hosts in your local area, to support each other with your Groups.
If you're wanting to set up local gatherings in your community in an area that Befriend isn't currently operating, then our helpful video below might inspire you to take those steps on your own and venture out into your neighbourhood armed with some determination and an open invitation!

Meet Experienced Hosts
Misty from Bayswater

Misty and her chocolate labrador Pippin love a leisurely stroll at the Bayswater Riverside Gardens, and can be found along the banks most Saturday afternoons. Misty realised that hosting events was as easy as extending the invitation to anyone from the community who wanted to come walking.
They've since enjoyed the company of all kinds of humans and pooches alike, keen to join the walk for some friendly conversation. In the winter months, Pippin (who acts as Misty's ever-faithful Co-Host) had the great idea of heading indoors to the Pet Lovers' Cafe in Maylands, so they could keep having their regular social gatherings with a roof over their head in a pet-friendly venue (where there's treats for all creatures!).
Tom from Morley

Tom is an outstanding photographer and avid ten pin bowler. Tom has been an event host for over three years and is now regularly hosting Befriend Bowling events in Morley. Tom loves hosting with Befriend because of the great community spirit. Tom’s ten pin bowling events regularly have over 10 people attend!
Caroline from Fremantle

Caroline has been hosting three Befriend events a week for a few months now. Caroline hosts knitting in Kwinana and it’s going gangbusters. She has just started another knitting event every Thursday at The Kerry Street Pear Tree cafe. It is a gorgeous cafe with super cheerful staff who are excited to have her each week. Daisy is the barista (the bloke in the picture) and is one of the most chipper and enthusiastic humans we’ve ever met.
