**NEW DATE SUNDAY 24TH OF SEPTEMBER**

    Session 2: Friends and Acquaintances

“Acquaintances we meet, enjoy, and can easily leave behind; but friendship grows deep roots.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Friendship is one of the most complex things we do as human beings, and yet it’s not something we’re taught at school. Befriend are running a series of events to explore the art and science of friendship so that you can learn how to make new friends or deepen your existing relationships.

If you’ve ever pondered the following questions, then this series is for you!

    • Why do we become friends with some people and not others?

    • Why do we sometimes lose touch with our best school or university friends?

    • How can we become friends with people outside of work/uni/tafe/church/footy team/choir etc?

    • Why do we struggle to make new friends in a new city?

    • Why do we struggle to make friends, full stop?

In Session Two of the series, you’ll learn about friends and acquaintances. You’ll learn a tool that will help you make sense of how you relate to the different people in your life and identify people that you’d like to connect with in a deeper way. We’ll teach you the science of transforming acquaintances into friends and help you come up with some strategies for deepening the relationships with people in your life. It is not necessary to have attended Session One, before attending Session Two.

What to expect: At the session, you can expect to meet people who, like you, want to learn about friendship and make new friends. You’ll take away some tips and tricks that you can incorporate into your life to help you make new friends or deepen your existing relationships and who knows, this might just be the place where a new friendship starts!

My aim is to raise awareness about mental illnesses, and the importance of caring for your mental health. Mental health care can be expensive, draining, and daunting. So I hope to remove those issues, along with the stigma of having a mental illness, and provide help for anyone, regardless of an illness or not. I want to provide this in a social and warm setting so that we can all make friends, and improve ourselves along the way. This is not a counselling session, but an opportunity to learn about how to support your own mental health and wellbeing. Come to one or all sessions, up to you!

BAWSE \'baús\ n: a person who exudes confidence, hustles relentlessly, reaches goals and smiles genuinely because he or she has fought through it all and made it out the other side.
